One of the trends that’s been around social media in the past few years is Pastel Goth, a style that merges goth’s dark, visual symbolism and the colorful tenderness of the pastel palette. 

Followed by millions all over the world, Pastel Goth doesn’t have a specific set of rules or even style standards. In fact, it combines so many styles that, at some points, it’s difficult to draw a line between Pastel Goth and a different style. So, with so many varieties and crazy combinations out there, you can actually make of your looks something unique and different.

Corsets and pentagrams

While pastel goth is pretty flexible when it comes to fashion, there’s a constant we can find in most looks: tight corsets (either faux leather or lace) and basically anything with skull or pentagram motifs (bralettes with pentagrams are actually quite trendy right now). Of course, playing with pastels will add to the style and make it look more tender and cute.

Accessorize from head to toe

Once you have selected your outfit, the next step is accessorizing as much as you can. Common accessories are purses with goth details (if they come in pastel hues, even better), fishnets, lace garters, hair accessories (like bows, animal ears, pompoms, or basically anything in the cute department), chokers, bracelets, leg warmers, unicorn stuff, and pretty much anything you can come up with.

Makeup is also quite an important aspect of Pastel Goth, and it can vary from style to style. Some like resorting to the classic goth and dark aesthetic, while others prefer combining it with pastel hues as well. A trend that’s been around in the past years of pastel goth is actually going for a monochromatic look by matching hair color, eyebrows, and eyeshadow. What remains of the classic gothic makeup style is very pale skin (that means no blush), and dark lipstick; the darker the better.

Don’t be afraid of heels

Actually, not just heels, but platforms. You can go for the classic combat boots, sneakers, or anything with a platform heel. If they come adorned with spikes or some goth symbols, even better. The idea is to resemble those millennial dolls with the big shoes.

Pastel Goth is one of those trends that take inspiration from styles and subcultures of the past decade and merges it with some millennial and genzer extravaganza. That means all the pastel and cuteness you can find.
